Seville is renowned for being one of Europe's most beautiful and exciting cities. If you'd like to get away from Barcelona and Madrid, live with a Spanish family and get excellent quality Spanish lessons, then this is a great summer programme.
It's serious but still full of fun, and by living with Spanish people you'll have the extra chance to practice what you've learned in class. You'll start to get into the culture as well as the language. And speaking of culture, you'll also find that this programme is a little more relaxed than similar summer camp language programmes in say, England (very controlled) or Germany (quite controlled). So we think it's beter for kids requiring less supervision and wanting a bit of freedom.
Classes are Monday to Friday mornings comprising 20 lessons a week. You'll do grammar, cover new structures, and increase your vocabulary as well as work on your communication skills. Don't worry about your level - the programme is for everyone from complete beginners to advanced speakers. There's a level test the first day to make sure that you are placed in the correct class. And of course, when you leave, you'll get to certificate of attendance showing your level. Courses are given by the qualified and experienced teachers of the International House school, who are very experienced at teaching teenagers, so there are no worries about quality.
On this programme you'll live with a Spanish family, sharing a bedroom with another student of a different nationality. (No walking to school alone!) The school is located in the middle of Seville and the families are normally about 20 minutes walk away. Accommodation is full-board - 3 square meals a day - Spanish style and included in the price, of course.
There's one full day excursion (Saturdays) and one half-day excursion (Wednesdays) every week. You might go to an adventure park, the beach or a local cultural attraction. Whatever it is, you'll get out and about, see the surrounding area as well as explore the city and have a chance to use your Spanish. Visits and excursions are alway supervised and accompanied by school staff and lunches are provided (of course).
Sundays are spent with your host family.
Most afternoons after classes there will be activities for you to do. It might be visiting an interesting part of the city or playing football. You'll also have an element of free time also, that with permission from the camp, gives older students a little breathing space from being 100% organised.
