Find another programme
One of our firm favourites. Small, really personal, and really different. This programme is based around kids' personal development, growing and building their confidence to express themselves both through activities as much as through English lessons. Students bathe in a positive atmosphere of "can do" and encouragement, while being gently challenged to try new things.
This is a camp created for 9-15 year olds. Participants won't be doing anything too scary or too dangerous - it's not an extreme sports programme! But, if you are looking for a different programme that gives your child the chance to explore and challenge themselves physically as well as emotionally, (and do something entirely different from staring at Buckingham Palace this summer), as well as learning English, then this is a cool ... SAFE ... camp. The owner and director, a father of 5 of his own, knows kids. He wants students to come away positively enriched, having learnt something about themselves - as well as having had an awesome time! (We really believe in this programme - does it show?!)
Outside of the English lessons, kids participate in range of specially designed activities and exciting sports during which, English is the operative language. Also available, when it's time to relax, is a pool table, ping-pong and organised board games all aimed at getting kids together and speaking English.
Based close to Dartmoor National Park in South-West England, this programme takes place on a magnificent private family property, complete with gardens and heated swimming pool.
English lessons take place either in the morning or afternoon, depending on the timetable of the day. In tune with the spirit of the camp, there's a move away from course books and strict grammar learning here. Instead the focus is on growing a child's interest in the language in an enjoyable way, and getting them to use it in useful situations. The focus then, is definitely on speaking.
On offer is an incredible array for sports that we haven't found available in this way elsewhere. Archery, kayaking, rock-climbing, rappelling, mountain-biking, ropes course, rafting, horse-riding, surfing, swimming and more are all on the menu. Remember though, this is definitely a sports camp... so your child must enjoy sport! Activities take place Monday to Friday either morning or afternoon depending on the planning and activity. In the evenings there are games, films to watch barbecues etc
Weekends excursions are organised in Dartmoor National Park, to the Cornwall coast or neighbouring historic castles and estates. Kids will also be let loose (under supervision!) in Exeter or Plymouth where outings are organised and where they can taste real, not from London, fish and chips - or perhaps go to the movies.
