Outside of School
Throughout the week and on the weekends, the language school organises a variety of social and cultural activities, in addition to excursions, to make sure that students can make the most of their time discovering Costa Rican traditions and Jaco’s surrounding areas. Several of these activities are included in the price of the language course, while others require additional payment. A few of the cultural activities on offer include Costa Rican cooking classes, cocktail mixing, tasting of local delicacies, such as fruit and coffee, Latin dance classes, craft-making, lectures about Costa Rican culture and flora and fauna, as well as Spanish and Latin American film screenings.
Social activities include ping-pong tournaments, evenings out at Jaco’s pubs and restaurants, gardening at the language school, afternoon games, bicycle tours and plenty of opportunities to discover the local market. On the weekend, why not take an excursion to one of the many volcanoes in Costa Rica, visit a brewery, a banana or coffee plantation, or admire the beautiful waterfalls in one of the many national parks? For those looking for something more active, try your hand at sea kayaking, rafting or go hiking. Finally, Jaco benefits from great waves year-round, so you will certainly be able to take a surf class or a stand-up paddleboard lesson.
